Richard Henry

Richard is a freelance bass trombonist. He is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester and National centre for Orchestral studies Goldsmiths College London. As a 17 year old he was a brass finalist in the BBC young musician of the Year competition.

He has recorded and toured with George Russell, Carla Bley, Hermeto Pascoal, Bob Brookmeyer, Joni Mitchell, George Michael, Delightfull Precipice, Julian Joseph, Sweto Kinch and is currently in a second stint with the band Loose tubes. He is a member of the London Jazz Orchestra, the ‘Back to Basie’ Orchestra, the ‘hKippers’ and also performs regularly with the Trinidadian/Canadian calypso band ‘Kobo Town’.

As a session musician Richard has recorded on many film and TV series such as Shakespeare in Love, various James Bond movies, Just William, and Quills, on which he also played Didgeridoo. He also frequently performs in West End theatre productions and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre – Merchant of Venice 2014, The Tempest 2013.
